One of my email filters automatically routes any message with an attachment to the trash folder. Are you sure about those coordinates? The Miami sectional chart shows no shipwreck there, and the point is more than 30 NM from Great Isaac Island. Descriptions I've seen on the Web say the Sapona is between South Bimimi and Cat Cay. The sectional shows a wreck in that area, at N2539' W07918', 207T and 25 NM from Great Isaac Island. > Where does the location of the Sapona fit into your picture? It doesn't fit at all. I had assumed the wreck depicted on the sectional chart at N2600' W07908' (about 4 NM SW of Great Isaac Island) was the Sapona. But everything I've seen on the Web puts Sapona in the Bimimis. Whether you fly course 091 or 097, it would require a big detour to the south. I'm beginning to suspect the Sapona is another error which has propagated down through the years. How did that ship get into the story? Web pages that appear to draw directly from the Navy report don't mention it. They merely say Flight 19 was supposed to practice bombing at Hen and Chickens Shoals. -- -- NavList message boards: www.fer3.com/arc Or post by email to: NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList+@fer3.com
