It doesn't fit at all. I had assumed the wreck depicted on the sectional chart at N26°00' W079°08' (about 4 NM SW of Great Isaac Island) was the Sapona. But everything I've seen on the Web puts Sapona in the Bimimis. Whether you fly course 091 or 097, it would require a big detour to the---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm beginning to suspect the Sapona is another error which has propagated down through the years. How did that ship get into the story? Web pages that appear to draw directly from the Navy report don't mention it. They merely say Flight 19 was supposed to practice bombing at Hen and Chickens Shoals.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
