Hi all
I have a Casio calculator FX CG50 and am programming it in Casio Basic with various cel nav functions, like calculating Hc and Z. The formulae for these are readily available.
However, I am looking for a formula to calculate a position fix, using Lat, Lon and Hc, Ho, Zn of two sights; not looking for a graph on the calculator, just the position fix Lat/Lon. I have been going through documents, weblinks, etc. but haven't found anything. I even tried ChatGPT, but the result is not good, compared to results from examples, or own sightings (also comparing it with results from ezAlmanacPro or Astron). Please note that my request is not about learning cel nav or plotting a position fix.
I know that there are many apps and spreadsheets available that offer this functionality, and that there is a readily available cel nav suite for the TI-89, but the challenge (and fun) is to put it on my own calculator and to understand the math. I am neither a math genius nor a serious programmer, but can pickup-up quickly.
Any input and/or feedback is welcome!
Thanks,
Huub
