Hello:
Last week I finally got back to Air & Space Museum's "Time & Navigation" exhibit. Spent three hours there. Just great and I recommend it highly. PVH Weems receives enormous credit. Amelia Earhart's last flight was discussed in two places. To my surprise , Fred Noonan is "blasted" in one area and his great skill was highly lauded in another area. The criticisms included: failure to know morse code, failure to know how to operate radio direction finder; and failure to prepare/consider head winds, and more. On this topic, I know there are several knowledgeble NavList members. I've always read that Fred Noonan was extremely competent. That was the basis for his selection.
Comments appreciated.
