Hi Martin,
Thank you very much for your post and your very interesting informations. I have bought this sextant on e-bay in june 2021, for a very reasonable price (311 euros) according to its excellent condition; the sextant is "as new"; the wooden box is also in excellent condition. The seller was located in Germany (Cottbus).
Curiously, the prism was not visible on the e-bay documents and photos and I have discovered the system on receipt of the package ... Good surprise!
There was a certificate in the box (see photo) but it is not the good one! The certificate is for sextant n° 740716 and mine is n° 740720. Unfortunatly, I have no informations about the sextant previous use.
I have used this sextant for observations of the sun and stars, in the conventional way, and I shall now experiment the sextant as a survey instrument with the pentaprism.
