Hi Martin,
Thank you very much for all these very interesting informations about Freiberger sextants. Your post is very useful for me because I don't speak german language and so, I have all the explanations about the certificate and the deductions which can be made about the history of my sextant.
I have purchased this sextant at a regular e-bay auction; maybe I was the one and only auctioner, I don't remember.
At receipt of the sextant, the index arm, the drum and its spring move freely so it was not necessary to dismantle the sextant for cleaning.
I'll try to take sights with the pentaprism and I'll tell you the result.
