The question is very "on topic" for traditional or modern navigation IMHO.
Tides, currents, (resulting in set and drift) are an important fact of
"navigational" life and always have been.
Timing of tides caused by the sun and moon might be fair game for a layman's
spreadsheet. If you have one local, you might be able to kludge together
something beyond that. Past that, local times for ebb and flow, slack water
etc. can be very situational, and in general the basic application is
probably below the interest level (more likely patience) of the list unless
you have a specific question(s). (I could be wrong--I often am.) I would
strongly recommend you pick up a copy of Dutton's, Chapman's, or Annapolis.
They will give you the background on durinal, semi-durinal tides etc., as
well as resources for calculating what happens at a particular location at a
given time. Then fire away.
