As we are discussing radio time signals, I just yesterday loaded an Android app on my phone called "GPS Time". Once you start the app, there is a bit of a delay as it acquires signals from multiple GPS satellites and then it gives you the time. It requires no Internet connection to work.
Whwn I installed this app I saw the dreaded words "contains apps". Then I realised that if it does not use an internet connection there is an easy way to disable the ads (apart from using the option given in the settings).
There is a flaw in the app. The app is currently telling me that GPS time is 15:10:41. The clock on my PC which is synced by NTP also tells me that the time is 15:10:41. So far so good. What I know, but what the app does not tell me, is that the time is 15:10:41 NZDST NOT 15:10:41 UT. I cannot find a setting that allows me to specify a time zone or daylight saving. The display is ambiguous. For this reason I prefer ClockSync.
