    Re: GPS jamming concerns

I would just use a quebec quarantine signal and claim to be Ebola stricken in those questionable waters.  That should give pirates a moment to reconsider.  If they want to play, I can too.

I also love how people seem to think I hate technology when I at least don't mind the hypocrisy in using it.
My concern is that one day Isis will get its hands on the controls for the worlds power grids.  Look and remember OPEC and the crap they pulled with gasoline shortages in the late 70's.  Took Reagan to straighten them out.  But still they too play their games with us national interests.

I am just a proponent of preparedness and in the case of the navy and cn not as prone as they to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Men might think themselves accursed they were not alive in these times; but I say better still they never were to witness the lunacy of the current age.

Why throw out and  regard the sextant as an artifact when it was never arkane at all?  We laud GPS and all its incarnations because they are easy as plunging them in and booting them up?  And yet let a circuit breaker fail and not many will know how to reset or change one out.

See we've lost something when we think all it takes is money to pay the repairman to do something we can't or are loathe to do.  Why climb a mast when you can pay a yard to use the extending lift to go that high or a bucket lift to crane over to fix the malady at the masthead? How many of us know what a tabernacle lows us to do in relation to mast work?

I am just saying that we've lost a lot since we gave up doing it hours selves back in the 70's.  Back when they term yacht was a dirty term for a boat a working class man sailed.   Now a boat isn't a boat as much as it is termed a yacht even at 26 loa.

Nah.  How many of us made it a goal as a kid to learn morse code and use it?  HAM's have even given up dx-ing in favor of talking.  Everyone can talk only a few knew and used Morse code.  Only a few still use sextants and spherical trig and we are relics and dinosaurs.  Maybe one day the grid will go down and all those plug in turn on apps will be useless.  GPS will or might go down and we will have to learn it all all over again.  Why let they knowledge die in the first place.  Can't we coexist?
