Greg,

I tend to agree with your listed equoipmen with possibly the following changes, additions or alternatives ;;;

1. A 7.5" magnetic compass in a compensating binnacle. properly mounted in a convenient location, other than the steeriing station, to be used for navigation purposes, i.e., azimuths, bearings, etc., and to be used for setting courses by comparison with the steering compass

2. A prism type azimuth/bearing instrument for use wtth the aforesaid compass.

3. A tafrail log, complete with spare rotator and line.

4. I would do away with one of your chronometers and substitute a quality Hack Watch. With time signals available i believe the extra chronometer to be a luxury.

5. Two copies of HO 9 ( (Usefull Tables)

7. A good Navigation Text - say an older edition of Bowditch or Norie, preferably both.

8. Mechanical pencil sharpener.

9. Complete set of HO 214

10. Suitably marked lead lines and leads, including for deep sea use, well as afthometer, if allowed.

Note: Navigation by Time Sight and HO 214

1. Nice German metal Sextant
2. Two Nice Swiss automatic Watches/Chronometers
3. Nories Nautical Tables, perhaps a copy of Bowditch as well. (Will use time sights and e- meridians primarily)
4. Nautical Almanac for two years.
5. Appropriate Charts.
6. Shortwave radio for time signals (if allowed).
7. Standard assortment of Plotting tools, plotting sheets, scrap paper etc.
8. Patent log.
9. Nice pair of binnoculors with built in compass and rangefinder if available.
10. Appropriate tide tables, light lists, coast pilots etc.
11. Motion sickness pills :)
