Greg,
The Hamilton 992 B does look impressive (although i would prefer a sweep second hand), and , again assuming the availability of time ticks, don't doubt it would serve for CN purposes.
I frankly was not aware of the vessel size limitation and would probably elect
to use Dreisenstok, HO 208, in place of HO 214. However, regardless, i feel that a properly installed magnetic navigating compas is essential - i have a 5" card unit mounted in a table top compensating binnacle and fitted with a bearing/azimuth device which would serve nicely, should a 7.5" unit prove too large.

Henry,
The sailing vessels are restricted in length from 32 to 36 ft on deck which is too small I think. The length allowed should be increased to at least 40 ft. then there wouldn't be such a pinch for space.
I'm wondering if a Hamilton 992B railroad pocket watch with 6 temp positions is good enough to double as a CN chronometer ?
Pub 214 is nice but too heavy and bulky for this race. Pub 249 vol. 1 is the must have table for stars. HO 9 useful tables would be a good add.
