Even after it has been fully serviced and calibrated is it going to get you plus or minus one second a day? Is it really better than a well chosen modern mechanical wristwatch? Wristwatches also the advantage that they are strapped to the best thermal regulation system you have on the boat - your body. Golden Globe participants might be thinking "is it worth spending hundreds of dollars on a chronometer so that I can get away with not checking the radio time signal some days?".
