Just to be clear, Google and the list owners do NOT have a
responsibility to prevent these things.

states clearly that EACH OF US has the responsibility to not defame
others, or to abuse others or to be obscene. Read Section 5 on
Content and Section 6 on Appropriate Conduct in this web page for the
details.
We are striving to go beyond this minimum - we want honesty and
particularly "intellectual honesty" to help us do better science.
(George, I think that is what Peter Fogg may have been referring to.)
I have great respect for Frank, for Peter, and for George: they have
all been excellent long time contributors to this forum. Let's let
this go and move on!
