    While it is true that the small latitude circle representing 41 N is quite different from a great circle, the part of the great circle that connects two points located at 41 N and 1 degree of longitude apart (the short way not the long way) is for all practical considerations identical to the part of a constant latitude small circle connecting the same points again the short way.

    While I know nothing about how you made the path, and though you think it is part of a constant latitude circle there is not a chance in hell that Google Earth didn't draw a great circle to connect the points.  And for that part of the great circle .7576 degrees is the arc length.
