     Mike,

You asked on advice on the best practice.  I would recomend you have the watch you use set to GMT and use only that time.  The date and time for cel-nav is zulu so you can not go wrong.

I flew cargo planes all over the world and we only used zulu.  When I would land one of the first questions was " what time is it? ".  Never been a salior, but it seems to me that the deck time was local zone time, but for the use of the crew;  when to eat lunch, when the six bells would ring, when to go to bed, etc.  The master clock ( cronometer ) was showing zulu.

In this day and age to have a quartz watch set on zulu, date and time, would not be hard and if needed, wear a watch on local time.

    Hope this helps.

    John H.
