I was informed of this group by a professional friend and indeed he was correct in telling me there are interesting people and a wealth of info here.
I'm a retired deck officer ( sailed Master for many years) and presently teach celestial nav amoung other nautical courses. Celestial has been a love and keen interest of mine for years. few if any events during my years of going to sea were more rewarding than a good celestial day's run. Finding land fall by celestial means is truely one of the best feelings a mariner can have in life.
I missed shooting celestial shots so much that I have taken to using bubble attachments on my Plath, and also small aviation sextants. Both have been rewarding and decent positions obtained ( that agree with my backyard GPS position).
I look forward to some rewarding discussions.
Regards to all, Dan
