Abstract: The first volume of the long-awaited revision and expansion of H.O. Publication No. 249, Sight Reduction Tables for Air Navigation, containing computed altitudes and azimuths for 34� selected stars and the bodies of the solar system, has been issued by the Hydrographic Office. Volume 1 is a revision of the Star Tables for Air Navigation, conceived and designed by Commander C. H. Hutchings, USN, and first published in a preliminary edition in 1947. In addition to the Star Tables, two more new volumes, providing complete data for the reduction of sun, moon and planet sights, are to follow. Volume 2 will cover latitudes O�-39� north and south, and Volume 3 latitudes 40�-89� north and south. -- GregR
