Sam,
You went about it backwards. First you figure the LHA of Aries for the expected time of observation at your location then use the listed stars in 249 for selecting stars to observe. Capella, Diphda, and Deneb are favored for 15° LHA of Aries ( the black diamond above the star name is the clue for best stars ).
