About an hour ago, the Sun's SHA hit 270°. It's heading down towards 180° which it will reach in about three months. This has no profound significance, but according to the rules of astrology and horoscopes, the Sun has entered the sign of Cancer tonight, and from there it's all downhill. The period when the Sun's SHA is between 270° and 180° when the Sun is in the signs of Cancer, Leo, and Virgo is an auspicious time for outdoor cooking and fireworks in the northern hemisphere, according to astrologers. And so we celebrate this otherwise non-astronomically-significant event. 

Tonight the Moon is coincidentally Full, but it won't be next year! Remember on this Midsummer Night that you should check the current almanac to know whether the Moon is out, since it is so "inconstant". Another astronomer, who honestly was a bit of an ass, once proclaimed, "A calendar, a calendar! look in the almanac; find out moonshine, find out moonshine!" The advice is true though... you have to check the current almanac for the position of the Moon.
