The movie In The Heart of The Sea shows several navigation instruments. The 1st mate tossing around an unboxed octant, a brass sextant, and a gimbled chronometer in very sad condition just before the ship is abandoned. I enjoyed the movie even though the scale of the great white whale was a bit exaggerated.
