That is very cool. Last year, I drove all the way from Chicago to California, in part for the weather (it was January!) but mostly to experience aerial celestial navigation firsthand with Gary LaPook flying us around. Two other NavList members, Greg Rudzinski and Mike Burkes, also joined Gary's expedition/demonstration. So I can say I've done it, but only that once. Naturally I've done much more celestial from land and also from open water, though not open ocean.
