That's odd! It would be useful to know how far off it is... how much it's "missing the target". Could you try clicking on some bright star, like Sirius or Betelgeuse, and tell us what object info comes up instead? Also, does the "miss error" seem to have any dependable behavior in different parts of the view? (see my comment on your "Problem 3" below)
And:
"Problem 2: The default view on my screen has the horizon about one fourth of the way from the top of the screen (i.e. three fourths of my view is landscape and only one fourth is sky). I can lower the horizon to where I want it, but I have to do this each time I run the program."
Do you know the trick for saving settings and location? This is one of those features that would be designed differently if Stellarium were built from scratch but since it has developed organically, it's not obvious. Under the "Configuration" dialog ("wrench" icon, or F2 to open), the "Main" tab at the bottom says "Save View" and "Save Settings". Get the horizon aligned the way you look it, do those save functions, then exit and re-launch. Does that preserve your alignment choice? If not, this may be an issue related to your "Problem 1".
And you said:
"Problem 3: The angle measuring tool doesn't work properly. When I left-click on an object that I want to start measuring from, I don't see the line. There is a measuring line, but it has started at some random location, not where I want to start measuring from."
This sounds a lot like your "Problem 1" ...like there's a driver issue that's messing up the scaling of the mouse clicks relative to the positions in the sky view graphic. See if you can get more evidence of the misbehavior. For example, if you start your angle-measuring click on the left side of the Stellarium window, is it better or worse than the right side? Also, is there any difference when Stellarium is not full-screen? Try toggling F11 to switch in and out of full-screen mode...
Does anyone know if there's a recommended "community support" forum for Stellarium issues like these?
