Do you have a provenance for it?
I could be wrong but the finish and other details gives me the feeling that it is a modern fake out of India.
Oh, sure enough, a cursory search on the web turns up multiple other similar sextants on eBay and Etsy. And there is another one on Amazon which is identical right down to the "123" and wear pattern on the instrument.
