Great loss. True Grit Brit Hero of the old school. Anyone know how close the relationship to Frank Worsely?
He was the archetypal Hero adventurer/ explorer type we still seem to produce in these misty ,moisty islands. They all seem to have been ex army and in this case , ex SAS. See Ranulph Fiennes, still going strong (just!) .Look at his CV/resume! (http://www.ranulphfiennes.co.uk/). Probably product of traditional English "public school") (ie. Private boarding schools!) years of abusive torture and same in the army (jolly good for the soul and moral fibre). A stroll across Antartica not much different I suspect. (went to one of those schools but escaped army, although the NHS in 1970s not a lot different!).
Best wishes
Francis
