While I'm thinking of it, for those of ye all who are just getting used to the google web interface, I've discovered a couple of things that I think are useful. First of all, just below the "Search this group" box, you'll notice a link that says "View Titles Only". Try clicking that. I like that "view" better. It has the interesting side-effect of hiding the advertisements. The little google ads are almost spooky in their relevance (chat about Ulysse Nardin chronometers and we'll send you small ads about Ulysse Nardin watches; chat about sextants, ads for sextants pop up), but by switching to Titles Only view, they just go away.

 

As I've said, I'm working on a web-based archive function and would welcome several archives, but in the meantime you can also search NavList (as archived on google) with the local search function on the group home page.

 

Google groups doesn't count on its fingers very well. Some of you may already have discovered that the number indicating new messages on the web interface does not seem to update very often. Supposedly the google people are working on this. For now it's a minor inconvenience. Also, if you click the "About Group" link on the group's web interface page, the number of members is listed as 68, but the number of subscribers is actually 87. I don't yet know why there's a difference or whether it makes any difference. Just keeping you all up-to-date on things I've noticed.
