The subtitle makes that sound like a very interesting book. What were the publishers thinking of changing to such a bland title? If a new title was needed why not simply Celestial Navigation, Computers, and Changing Technology”? Including "computers" in the title would make the book timeless because human computers existed hundreds of years before the electronc computer. Maybe they have shot themselve in the foot, although if it is intended for academic libraries then maybe the title does not matter - the libraries will buy it anyway. If I want a history of Nautical Astronomy a pdf of Cotter's book is online.
In spite of the exciting (original) subtitle I will not be buying the book. I am content to read Sadler's personal history for free:
