Here is a special case of a single horizontal sextant angle giving a fix by range, bearing, and two circles of position. Use the linked chart for plot.
https://www.charts.noaa.gov/OnLineViewer/18725.shtml
Channel Islands Harbor break water NW Lt. forms a range with oil platform Gina (220.4° T). A sextant horizontal angle is observed (Hs 34° 46') between Oil platform Gina and oil platform Gail.
Find:
1. The bearing to Platform Gail.
2. The two circle of position radius.
3. Lat. Lon. of fix.
I can't think of another situation where four LOPs (COPs) are obtained from a single observation to fix a position other than a rare double range fix.
