This has been my experience. Once I determine the drift of my Timex Ironman, it's quite accurate for a year. I take a month's worth of data for the drift, do a straight line fit, and then feel comfortable extrapolating that to two years out without recalibrating it. The last one I had lost about 0.1 seconds per day, but was reliable in that habit.
