Since it has already been discovered by the list that it is easier to maintain temperatures above ambient, eg. crystal heaters in HF radios, than below, i would suggest a small well insulated box with a thermostatically controlled heater (one or two watts, 12-15v DC?). The Watch could be viewed through a double or triple insulated glass window so as to not disturb the thermal equilibrium. This would be a nice project not beyond the capabilities of many of us. A couple of LED's to indicate operating temperature and power on and it would be a nice piece of kit to have at the nav station.
