Here is some corrected information. On the Federal level, the
National Geodetic Survey @www.ngs.noaa.gov is now responsible for
the former USCGS (US Coast and Geodetic Survey). I used an incorrect
name/title . For the Sate of Massachusetts ( we are considered a Commonwealth by
insiders) , but we still rate as a State on our flag....go figure.... the Mass
Department of Transportation has apparently taken over “Survey Controls”.
My former bookmark did not function so I found my way to some info on survey
controls via “ MADOT Survey Controls “. I’ve never used this site so
good luck! The USCGS site can give you BMS and reams of information about each.
I recollect if you key in a Town (or maybe county) a list or map pops-up. Again,
good luck. If I have time tonight I ‘ll check out these sites.

Here in Massachusetts we have a State Grid. You can go on line and find a “library” of Bench Marks . All BMs are defined via the grid in a coordinate system and latitude and longitude
Bruce, I am having difficulty in finding this online. Could you point
