    Thanks for the replies.  I am a book and computer navigator so to hear from folk that have felt the salt water in the face is nice - the best thing about Nav List.

    Tom   Yes, the white cliffs were fuzzy.

    Greg   It was your Horizontal Sextant Angle Plot back in 2013 and your Hoz. Sex problem this July that prompted me to try to find out.  The pitchure of Gina and Gail oil platforms have Santa Cruz Island ( I think ) in the background.  It has hills up to 2000 feet but is only about 20 NM offshore.  Nice to know someone CAN see a mountain at 50 NM plus.
