Attached is the last test of the Hp Doniol table and plot. For this trio of Sun observations the bubble octant 2 minute averager was used. There are several things to get right to complete a clean averager observation. Check list: 1. Wind averager 2. Zero counter 3. Set counter zone 4. Set micrometer to Hp 5. Select correct filter 6. Adjust bubble to correct size 7. Engage averager 8. Be ready to start averager exactly one minute before Hp time 9. Start averager 10. See that counter is moving 11. Begin following Sun. There are a lot of ducks to keep in a row which requires more practice than expected to get things right which is why most of my bubble octant observations are done without the averager. On a small aircraft though the averager is a necessary evil to get accurate results.
