You may discover that the scope shade is just stuck, slightly corroded onto the eyepiece component. I had a sextant like this some years ago, and a number of the scope parts had to be forced apart. It's not the sort of thing you want to do, of course! If you attempt to force apart bits that are not supposed to come apart, you can do permanent damage. But in this case, it may be worth a try. Could you stick a screwdriver blade or something similar in that "gap" just below the shade (see markup of your photo below)? Work your way around, every 60° or so, and you may be able to pry the shade off the eyepiece. It might just pop right off. If it's screwed in place, it probably can't do any harm to try this with reasonable force.
