    Thanks, Alex. I did find a few fat references to duraluminum (US
    pronounciation) on the web. Some call it corrosion resistant, others say it
    is less so than pure aluminum. Some call it stronger than some steel alloys (but
    then again, isn't aluminum generally stronger than steel by weight?) while
    another at http://machinedesign.com/Content/Issue/6386%5C501_45301.pdf
    references it against some new engineering resin and shows a breaking strength
    of 190MPa versus 250 for brass and 300 for tinned bronze. The resin they are
    working with is inexpensive enough to use in electric razors so perhaps it can
    be used for sextant frames as well.
