    Re: Intercept and distance

Thanks. Your working has confirmed that I am calculating LHA correctly and correctly extracting data from the almanc and 3270. Any errors will be arithmetical.  The  data you have provided can be the test data for each reduction method I try.

    Currently I have:

    3270  Hc = 19° 09'

    486  Hc = 19° 087' which  rounds to 19° 09'

Cosine  Hc = 19° 07'  Must be recalculated

Now a question. If the intercept is 13.7' is the distance between the two positions 13.7' and if so can it be calculated by plane trigonometry?

This is a reply to Gary LaPook's message. I am not yet sure how to quote in a reply.
