    Interesting Celestial Viewing in Western Sky

    Slightly OT, but at least related to celnav...

    I took a look at Saturn through the binoculars the other night, and was startled to see that it was surrounded by what literally looked like an explosion of stars.

    A little research turned up that it's the Beehive Cluster (AKA M44 or NGC 2632) - and sure enough, it really does look like a swarm of bees. Well worth a look if you haven't seen it before - easily resolvable with binoculars (and supposedly with the naked eye as well, but apparently not for my location), and actually better viewed that way than with a telescope because of the width of the cluster.
