If it is your boat, Bauer suggest screwing the box (so lid hangs down) onto
a bulkhead or horizontal surface. Heavy-duty Velcro-like fasteners (sold
at Radio Shack) can support a radio under a dashboard with just a few square
inches of the stuff, so would be bullet proof for horizontal mounting if the
boat is not yours.
River-runner suppliers sell D-rings secured to coated fabric patches, and
could be glued onto the case so a bit of line or bungee cord(s) could be
used to tie that puppy down.
