    PS.  Just looked at the setup.  Sextant is Astra IIIB.  The lid foam is in
    two layers.  The foam closest to the sextant is cutout around the entire
    sextant.  Only the rubber eyecup protrudes past that cutout.

    Eyeballing heights relative to the top, the majority of the scope is
    nominally lower than the other components.

    Lowest to highest:

    Scope/Index mirror frame about equal (front of scope perhaps a tad higher
    than index-mirror frame, the majority lower)
    Index shades and lugs
    Horizon mirror and spring
    Horizon shades and lugs
    (Horizon shades, not counting lugs, a wee bit lower than horizon mirror
    frame)

    Therefore the maximum pressure is exerted on the horizon mirror spring, then
    frame.
