I also checked my sextant in the luggage.
In the native wooden box. I filled the empty space inside the box
with stirofoam. Then I wrapped the box into soft plastic bubble sheet
and put everything in a cardboard box. Then the whole thing went into a
large anmd strong suitcase. (Together with cloth, sleeping bag etc.)
Russian manual recommends to disengage the wormscrew,
fix it in this disengaged state by tape,
and then fix the arm to the frame by tape.
This I did not do.
