Yes, that's what I am picturing, too. By the way, since O'Brian commonly moved the historical prototypes for his events from one ocean to another when he fictionalized them, if we're searching for the model Venus occultation in this period, I think we can ignore the Indian Ocean setting that I mentioned earlier.
