Outside the Scott Polar Museum in Cambridge sits a seaworthy replica of the James Caird. The real James Caird is owned by Dulwich College (that's a private high school for posh boys where Shackleton supposedly had a miserable time as a kid), but despite claims that it's open to the public, mostly it isn't. The replica at Cambridge, however, is nearly an exact copy, and it also sailed from Elephant Island to South Georgia, three decades ago. Do any of you remember that? Any stories about the events? Apparently the boat was adopted and put on display at the Polar Museum a decade ago, according to this blog entry.
