Another historical note on 'Commodore' Crosbie, the owner of the book. After Brazil he had followed Lord Cochrane in the war for Greek Independence. In 1827 he was testing out a steam powered warship, the Enterprise, as part of Cochrane's plan to defeat the Turkish navy.
