I set out to adjust the mirrors on the wee beastie just before noon and found I had a frozen adjustment screw on the index mirror. This is the first time I have used this little sextant.
Turns out the screw was cross threaded, the sextant appears unused but obviously somone was having a play in its past.
Gently removed the screw rocking it backwards and forwards to ease it out. Cleaned the threads on the screw and in the mirror mount. Tiny amount of lube and then aligned the screw, using a backward and forward motion I gently let the screw recut the thread in the mirror case.
All appears tickety boo, the screw is firm and rotates freely with just the right amount of friction.
Finished setting up the mirrors, I will take a noon shot tomorrow and see how it goes, looking good.
