Of course JavaScript has absolutely NOTHING to do with Java! Java was done by Sun Microsystems. It is a general purpose programming language that often appeals to people that liked Pascal years ago. Java programs (often called applets) run in Web Browsers but they must be compiled by a programmer first. JavaScript was done originally by Netscape, a company that eventually became part of AOL which became part of Time Warner. JavaScript is a specialized scripting language which runs directly in web browsers. It is an interpreted language. It is functionally equivalent to Visual Basic Script (VBS) but runs in many more browsers and platforms than VBS. (There are very few reasons to put VB Script code in your web pages: use JavaScript instead.) JavaScript has become standardized under the name "ECMAScript". JavaScript is part of Internet Explorer, FireFox, Safari, etc. Most web sites depend upon it a lot. If anyone has more questions about this, feel free to ask me. I spent a lot of time working on these technologies when I worked at Microsoft. Hope this helps... Dan Allen
