Well it is good.... it take some getting use to as it is an electronic gizmo... I have to re-read the instruction every time I get it out, I only use it 4 to 6 time a year. Having said that it is great to push one button and get time and Az into memory. The problem is if you push the wrong button you have wasted a round of sights. The other issue is that with the sextant bracket on you cant put the front lens cover on. Once on the boat for a few days, all of that is behind you and it is really convenient to have the scope record your info. All in all I like it.

Hello Tom,Hi Tom, I once almost bought a KBV but the price in the end leaned me back. How good is it for use with a sextant?I wanted it to record the time of the sight automatically, and gain precision for time.Regards--

2010/11/26 Tom Sult <tsult@mac.com>If you find the paper I also would be interested. I use a KVH datascope on my sextant. It gives time, and azimuth (+/- 0.5 degrees). I have been using the summer / Azimuth line as a first approx for a few years. It keep me from making Big mistakes... I still seem capable of the other types mistakes however.Tom Sult
