Probably the best book for a description of the use of mid 20th century British marine sextants is “The Sextant Simplified – a practical explanation of the use of the sextant at sea” by Captain Oswald M Watts published from 1942 until at least 1976 and still available from second hand booksellers. I paid 4GBP for my copy new in 1984. Attached are snaps of pages 79 and 80 describing The (High Power) Inverting Telescope. Dave
