I have a Bowditch and will look it up.
Like the sextant Michael has this sextant is heavy, a truly industrial instrument. I suspect the use of a tripod may have been in mind going by the way the the large knob (handle) attaches so it can be held horizontal.
It is the last sextant to the collection. #21. I have been biding my time awaiting something different and at an affordable price to close off the collection.
Now to finish the display cabinet which has to be mobile as I have had requests to display some at various venues. I have one in pieces under restoration at the moment.
