I bought my first bubble sextant, an A-10a, from Celestaire in 1977 and used it to teach myself flight navigation (and to stay awake) while flying cargo at night, single pilot. I then used that A-10a when I ferried a Cessna 172 across the ocean in 1978, (pre-GPS, pre-LORAN C days.) I met Ken at his shop in Wichita when I was in town on business. I also met him at a NAVLIST symposium in Mystic Connecticut in 2008. We had good conversations and it turned out that he had ferried several small aircraft for the same company that I had worked for and we shared many stories about the boss of that company, Orient Air, who was a real character. Ken was a real nice guy, a real gentleman.
