Joe, I have etched my own horizon mirrors from commercially available mirror stock. Bill Morris has an article on how to do this: New Sextant Mirrors for Old | The Nautical Sextant
I was able to take things a bit further and etch some windows into the somewhat more complex mirrors used in the Tamiya bubble sextant (Coutinho pattern) from WW-II with good success using the above article as a guide.
