Turns out serial number 1094 depicted is a '92 model, more specifically an LC-130H3. The H's saw versions of their own....H1, H2, H2.5 and H3's. Usually they were electical system changes, more of a nightmare in differences for a flight engineer than a pilot and navigator. What I'd like to have asked the nav was how are they having those periscopic sextants serviced. The last servicing dates I saw on sextants were the mid 80's out at Ogden ALC.
As a side note, for those interested in military tail numbers back to the Wright Flyer, this website captures them all: http://www.joebaugher.com/usaf_serials/usafserials.html I found the C130, tail number 64-0557, I flew day one in Desert Storm is sitting at the bottom of a lake in Texas in a scuba park. I wonder if the sextant mount is still there.
